Grew our digital community to over 14,000 advocates, actively participating in advocacy efforts such as petitions, meetings with representatives, and raising awareness of key issues like lobbying reform and election funding. Partnered with Mannifera in May 2024 to convene 60 leaders and funders to map the state of Australian democracy, identify threats, and foster collaboration for reforms. In September 2023, delivered a twoday Government Relations Masterclass with the Centre for Australian Progress, training advocates to pitch policy changes to Parliament. Drafted and proposed this bill to protect charities' rights to engage in advocacy, ensuring legal clarity and safeguarding against government retaliation for policy discussions. Successfully lobbied for election laws that treat charities differently from political parties, ensuring fair participation without restrictive regulations. Advocated for reforms that would include advocacy organizations in the deductible gift recipient (DGR) system, enhancing their ability to advocate for the public good. Endorsed and advised on Dr. Monique Ryan s lobbying reform bill, supported Senator Pocock s parliamentary inquiry, and engaged the community to submit 349 submissions on lobbying transparency. Analyzed and revealed that 23% of major political donations were from unknown sources, driving public pressure for donation transparency. Launched the Declaration of our Right to Protest, mobilized over 140 organizations, and successfully advocated against restrictive protest laws in NSW, WA, and Victoria.
