The Australian Arts Trust 1. Provides an online compendium of facts, figures and issues for Australian music and musical life, available to readers domestically and internationally; it includes some special research in developing the Music in Australia Knowledge Base as a wiki site. 2. Administers the prestigious annual Freedman Music Fellowships awards for a classical instrumentalist and a jazz musician to assist in career building through prize money and promotion including two annual concert awards night. The skilled performers of classical music OR jazz music, aged 30 or less at the date that each competition is finalised in any year. Competitors must have Australian citizenship. They may reside anywhere in the world but finalists in each competition must present in Australia for interviews and live performances. The winners must spend their $21,000 prizes on executing projects approved by the judges as beneficial to both the contestants and to the musical artforms. 3. Through the structure of the program, encourages and supports innovation in the music artforms. 4. Provides small grants to individuals and community organisations through our Resound program to replace instruments lost in floods and fires 5. Seeks to achieve through policy formation and advocacy the provision of high quality music education in Australian schools 6. Publishes Loudmouth, a free monthly online magazine. The magazine reports current developments, discusses matters of policy, politics and cultural development, community music and educational research, music education from early childhood to career development.
