Asia Pacific Internet Development Trust

APIDT provided grant funds to APNIC Foundation to undertake projects consistent with the stated purpose of the trust to fund internet development initiatives in the Asia Pacific region, including technical skills development and capacity building, improvements to critical Internet infrastructure, supporting research and development, and improving the community s efforts to build an open, global, stable and secure Internet. Further investment has been made in critical Internet infrastructure by way of APIDT s subsidiary, APIDT Infrastructure Pty Ltd, securing additional internet capacity for Research and Education Networks in the region by securing rights to use a certain amount of bandwidth capacity on the fibre optic cable connecting Japan and Guam, Guam and Indonesia, Guam and Singapore, as well as Guam and Philippines.
