In Feb 2024, over the course of 12 days and nights, Antenna celebrated the very best in nonfiction cinema with a program of 53 documentaries (78 screenings) from 20 different countries. DocTalk Antenna s fullday seminar of industry talks and panels returned once again with a range of leading international and Australian filmmakers and industry figures. The 12th festival was once again a critical and commercial success, continuing its overall cumulative growth both in audience numbers and box office receipts since its inception During March Dec 2024, Antenna focused on preparing for the festival delivered in February 2025. Over 12 days and nights, the festival showcased the finest in nonfiction cinema, featuring 48 documentaries (80 screenings) from 22 countries. This year s program included three competitive awards: Best Feature Documentary ($7,500 cash prize), Special Jury Award ($2,500 cash prize), and Best Australian Short. DocTalk Antenna s fullday seminar of industry talks and panels returned with a dynamic lineup of leading international and Australian filmmakers and industry figures. All tickets sold out, reinforcing its reputation as a must attend event. Importantly, DocTalk attracted a younger audience, aligning with Antenna s efforts to engage the next generation of documentary lovers and creators. The 2025 festival continued its trajectory of critical and commercial success, maintaining consistent growth in audience numbers and boxoffice receipts. With a strong lineup of films and guests, record attendance, daily soldout screenings, engaged audiences, and a buzzing atmosphere, the 2025 Antenna Documentary Film Festival was a resounding success. ROUGH CUT LAB: Antenna also continued to promote, celebrate and champion creative documentary cinema by delivering a professional development program, Rough Cut Lab, in September 2024. This event is a workshop designed to pair local filmmakers with industry mentors from around the world to assist them in finishing their films to the best of their creative potential and find new ways to reach global audiences. Three featurelength documentaries at roughcut stage were selected for the Lab, and their creative teams received access to international experts and decisionmakers who provided coaching and advice on storytelling, editing, marketing, sales and festival strategies.
