The American Australian Association Limited (AAA) operates as a Board of trustees over the management of Government funds held in trust for both the US Studies Centre (USSC) at the University of Sydney and the Perth US Asia Centre (USAC) at the University of Western Australia. In addition, the company is also actively involved in advancing education by improving and contributing to the academic and public understanding of the politics, policy (domestic and foreign), economies, societies, cultures and histories of the United States of America and Australia, and the geopolitical and diplomatic relationships between these nations. It does this principally by facilitating, funding and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate educational scholarships for Americans and Australians, supporting research organisations such as the USSC and USAC, and in collaboration with the USSC and USAC, facilitating conferences, seminars and other educational and cultural events. As the funding body and custodian of the funds for USSC and USAC, it leads, coordinates and works with the two Centres to secure their long term viability through Government funding. It assists with negotiating Host Agreements for both Centres and manages the relationships between the AAA, the Centres and their respective host universities to meet agreed obligations. The company is responsible for the management of funds pursuant to host agreements with USAC and USSC. The agreements with USSC and USAC both expire on 31 December 2025. It is anticipated that the agreements will be renewed beyond this date. During the year the company, in collaboration with the USSC and USAC was involved in the sourcing of funds and the development of educational programmes and events that aid in the promotion of friendship, cooperation and understanding between the United States of America and Australia. There was no significant change in the nature of the activity of the company during the year. The Long Term Objectives are as follows: To facilitate, fund and support undergraduate and postgraduate educational scholarships for Americans and Australians. To advance education by improving and contributing to the academic and public understanding of the politics, policy, economies, societies, cultures and histories of the United States of America and Australia, and the geopolitical and diplomatic relationships between these two nations. To expand the AAA alumni network. To promote friendship, cooperation and understanding between the peoples of the United States of America and Australia. To strengthen relations between the United States of America and Australia through creating a better understanding of their cultures and societies. To facilitate in collaboration with AAA lnc., USSC and USAC exchanges and programmes including, but not limited to, educational scholars To work with USSC and USAC to secure their long term viability through Government funding.
