ALFA (NT) Limited

To support their production of Australian Carbon Credit Units and their engagement with the Emissions Reduction Fund, the Indigenous Ranger groups with responsibility for the fire project areas in Arnhem Land came together to form an entity Arnhem Land Fire Abatement (NT) Limited. The objective of ALFA (NT) Ltd is to support Aboriginal land management with funding generated through the sale of Australian Carbon Credit Units. ALFA (NT) Limited, is a company limited by guarantee and owned exclusively by Aboriginal people with custodial responsibility for those parts of Arnhem Land under active bushfire management. ALFA (NT) Limited is a not for profit company committed to the improvement of the lives of its owners and to the continuing beneficial management of a vast area of country of high conservation value. Most importantly, the company emphasizes the high value of the cobenefits generated by burning activity. During the financial year ending 30th June 2024, ALFA (NT) Limited, generated and sold more than 500,000 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) from within the company's registered eligible offsets project areas. ALFA s Aboriginal partner organisations, who are themselves charitable entities registered with the ACNC, are the recipients of all funding and undertake land management activities that will protect, preserve and care for the environment and which are consistent with Aboriginal traditional rights and obligations. ALFA also supports broader charitable outcomes through funding community identified projects that address disadvantage in aged care and education and alleviate poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, destitution and helplessness.
