About Acholi Resilience
We provided support to the most vulnerable Acholi people in northern Uganda. Acholi resilience is working handinhand with the local people in this region to empower them economically through the provision of resources to help mitigate poverty, revive degraded environmental resources, and protect and conserve the environment of Northern Uganda. These strategies of Acholi Resilience are conserving natural resources and reducing household poverty by protecting and preserving the asset base, diversifying and improving onfarm production systems, and direct employment offfarm (people to care for the nodding syndrome patients, local veterinarian officers to treat sick animals, extension officers to help farmers produce good crop yields). Acholi Resilience is encouraging education among young girls and boys by providing learning resources to local schools, employing qualified teachers, introducing school feeding programs and getting parents more involved in the education of their children. These efforts are increasing the empowerment of young women and men and increasing the knowledge of the communities in this region, thereby prompting them to take the mitigation and eradication of poverty, as well as the protection and conservation of the environment, seriously in their own hands.
