Knowledge Exchange: We facilitate the creation and implementation of new ideas and practices to meet the needs of shelters and the women and children they serve. Through coordinated working groups virtual work spaces research and publications we connect knowledgeable and dedicated individuals from coast to coast to coast. Public Education: to educate the public via our annual survey of shelters and the publication of Shelter Voices and manage sheltersafe.ca an online tool which provides a lifeline to women at any time of day or night. The site includes a clickable map of over 550 shelters across Canada with their web site and 24 hour help line. Provide information via e-newsletter & social media and through our techsafety.ca site. Research: We carry out research on the work and priorities of violence against women shelters via surveys sent directly to shelters. The analysis of these surveys are made available to the public via reports posted on our web site. Second Stage Transitional Housing New Build Project: We offer development services to underserved organizations that are interested in creating new second stage transitional housing. Through this project WSC will assist up to 16 second stage transitional housing new build projects over four years (2022-2026). Shelter Ready Fund: WSC created the Shelter Ready Fund a program offering grants directly to shelters to financially support VAW shelters and transition houses.
