About West Toronto Junction Historical Society
The West Toronto Junction Historical Society in collaboration with the Toronto Public Library holds 8 meetings every year which are open to the public. At these meetings we have speakers who present various topics of historical interest. The Society operates a public access archive in the basement of the Annette Public Library in Toronto. It is open on 2 afternoons a week for interested members of the public to find out more about the neighbourhood. We also publish a journal entitled The Leader and Recorder three times a year. It is a high quality publication usually of 12 pages. To help finance our operations the Society sells books and other WTJHS themed merchandise. We support a program developed and led by a local history teacher called They Walked These Streets We will Remember Them which is a Remembrance Day initiative. While speakers are often reimbursed all other Society activities are delivered by volunteers. In 2024 we revived our neighbourhood walking tours with a Hallowee'n themed pub crawl telling stories of historical crimes in the Junction. We plan on offering these type of walks twice a year.
