Victoria on Stage Musical Theatre Society

The production of two broadway-scale musicals in the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024. Approximately 250 volunteers gave 30 000 hours during the year to reach close to 5 000 patrons over 14 performances. Two of these performances were sensory-friendly for patrons who are on the autism spectrum and struggle to cope in a live theatre setting. Almost 200 patrons were able to enjoy these special shows which were offered at a discount and were curated to remove potenial triggers making musical theatre more inclusive. The education & training program offered 4 affordable youth camps and classes. During the year 55 youth developed their skills and confidence ending each camp or term with a showcase performance for a small audience. Vos also offers an annual scholarship to a post-secondary student continuing in the field of theatrical performance or backstage production. Show-specific costume rental bundles went out to many small theatre groups and schools. The costume loft volunteers put in approximately 700 hours to managing these rentals. To support small theatre and dance companies we rented our hall more than 300 hours during the year. Vos participates in the victoria pride festival to support the lgbtq+ community. This event engages 15 to 20 volunteers with the community at large and welcomes new members to vos from a diverse community.
