Vancouver Independent Music Centre Society

In 2023-2024 vim successfully hosted eight public concerts at five lower mainland venues: kw studios fox cabaret annex anvil and hollywood theatres. The concerts freatured emerging young singer songwriters swing dance middle eastern music afro-arabic fusion traditional chinese folk songs contemporary jazz a lil'wat vocal ensemble and taiko. Through these concerts vim reached new audience members fostered new community connections and bolstered existing partnerships. Vim also supported polycentric polyphonies an educational outreach project exploring cultural diversity in choral music. Works generated from these sessions led to public presentations and a 4-part online video series.
