About Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society
The society produces the Vancouver Fringe Festival a 12 day theatre festival each September. The Vancouver Fringe serves as the home for independent performing arts in Vancouver following the Fringe Theatre Movement that spans across North America. Fringe Festivals serve as an inclusive space for all artists whether emerging or established providing a space for them to showcase their work. Artists pay a nominal fee to participate but receive subsidies that cover the remainder of costs. Artists also receive all the profits from ticket sales. This ‘artist-first’ approach fosters an environment of true creativity and experimentation. This year the Fringe launched two new programs a renewed partnership with VocalEye (an organization that provides support for Blind and Partially Sighted people to attend performing arts) and a mentorship program. The mentorship program paired new artists with experienced ones to help them prepare their performances.
