United Way of Regina

Our mission is to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action in our 3 key focus areas: ALL THAT KIDS CAN BE POVERTY TO POSSIBILITY & STRONG COMMUNITIES. We believe in the importance of investing in prevention rather than intervention and taking a holistic approach to complex issues. By working with community and strategic partners we invest methodically to achieve the greatest impact in the areas where it is needed the most. In 2019 United Way of Regina expanded its reach to also support the regions of Weyburn Swift Current and Moose Jaw. We all know prevention beats intervention and in preventing poverty violence and crime one factor is all-powerful - Education. Grade 3 reading levels are a key indicator in predicting school success better than all others which is why United Way Regina has strategically chosen to focus on moving the needle in this area. In addition to community investments with partner agencies United Way of Regina works with a variety of stakeholders and supports targeted Campaign for Grade Level Reading initiatives including investments in Summer Success Access to Books School Readiness Literacy Initiatives and Attendance Matters. In partnership with United Way Saskatoon & Area United Way of Regina manages 211 Saskatchewan: a free confidential 24/7 service that connects individuals to human services in the province by telephone text or web chat plus a searchable website with over 6 000 listings of social community non-clinical health and government services across the province. In addition to searching on the 211 Saskatchewan website individuals can call 2-1-1 text 2-1-1 or go online to chat with trained professionals to help find and navigate services they need. This access to community health and government services is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. Over 175 languages including 17 Indigenous languages are available over the phone.
