Weekly program of basic services and food on 3 mornings to average of 200 homeless individuals. Basic services include housing referrals access to nurse practitioner income tax preparation representatives on site from Ministry for disability and social services foot care free meals hygiene sypplies clothing transit fares. Support of the Extreme Weather Response (EWR) shelter including annual update of EWR plan co-leading EWR calls communication of alerts to community agencies government emergency services and the community. Provision of clothing and hygiene supplies as required. During the summer running 2 locations for cooling stations for extreme hot weather supplying shade water clothing and hygiene supplies as well as other services as required. Special events such as Homeless Connect events Homeless Action Week activities such as educational sessions annual summer barbecue for homeless individuals and Outreach Christmas. Presentations on homeless situation in Burnaby to a variety of audiences including municipality churches business schools etc. Assistance to City to annually review civic homeless protocols and participation in the City's Taskforce on Housing. Shower program with the 2 stall shower trailer including a toilet and sink is available to homeless individuals two mornings a week. This is the first program of its kind in Metro Vancouver.
