Rasc edmonton centre provides astronomy related free educational programs public star parties support for educational activities science fairs funding for scholarships and astronomy outreach activities rasc edmonton centre continued work in 2024 most significantly te first full year of operation of the largest publicly accessible telescope in western canada at the black nugget lake dark sky observing site. The rasc edmonton centre supplied volunteer astronomers and their equipment to participate in and support the tourism jasper 'jasper dark sky festival' the beaver hills dark sky preserve celebrations as well as promoted many other public astronomical events and celebrations hosted by municipalities throughout alberta. New guest speakers predominant in the forefront of astronomy science continued to be scheduled for public events. Implementation of hosted 'astro cafe's' events directed at helping amateur astronomers develop and refine specialized astronomical skills. A monthly youtube broadcast what's up over edmonton was unveiled this year providing astronomers with an entertaining monthly overview of the current night sky along with some relavent space history.
