The Foundation is registered as a Charitable Organization as defined in section 149.1 of the Income Tax Act (Canada) and is therefore exempt from income taxes. The Foundation carries out charitable activities through the following purposes: • to advance the education of Bahamian residents including through the provision of scholarships bursaries awards and other forms of financial assistance to attend educational institutions (including post-secondary education institutions) whether in Canada or elsewhere; • to relieve poverty by providing necessities of life including food clean water medical supplies clothing and/or shelter to victims of disasters in the Bahamas; • to advance education in the Bahamas by remediating reconstructing and furnishing schools. • to advance education in the Bahamas by delivering training and programs to at-risk youth designed to improve their educational outcomes.
