About The Bob Rumball Camp of the Deaf

The camp is a place where a deaf child could enjoy a summer camp experience develop their leadership and outdoor skills and take a vacation form feeling 'different' or 'special'. Here saff and volunteers are trained in american sign language so ther eare no communication barriers. There are three camp programs offered. The junior camp is offered to children ages 5 through 12 and provides a foundation of self-respect and self-esteem to children who may never have met another deaf child before. They help develop language interactive and social skills and often provide first exposure to the natural outdoor environment. The senior camp is offered for children ages 14 through 17 where campers participate in typical camp activities and outdoor adventures as well as leadership opportunities. There is a leadership in training program offered to campers aged 14 to 15. The special needs program serves both children and adults who have physical mental developmental or emotional challenges in addition to being deaf or hard of hearing. The program is less structured and allows campers to participate in all activities to the best of their personal ability in a relaxed resort-like atmosphere
