Statement of purposes and activities in canada the holy trinity roman catholic separate school division was established by the roman catholic population of moose jaw shaunavon and swift current and has as its main purpose the education of its children both within the framework of the provincial requirements and programs and within the framework of the teachings of the roman catholic church. What differentiates catholic school divisions from other publicly funded school divisions is its catholic character and its mandate deriving from that character. This additional mandate consists of both the teachings of the catholic church and the christian practice of the faith through the following activities: 1. In class: teachings of the doctrine during religion classes and the integration of such teachings into all subject areas. 2. Out of class: a) in cooperation with the community parishes parents are organized into cluster groups with their children to prepare for the sacraments. B) charitable works: - all high school students go through a practicum whereby they complete volunteer work in hospitals retirement homes development centres or other centres; - fundraising for such purposes as christmas hampers and supports for the poor share lent for development and peace food bank tele-miracle for the handicapped building funds etc. C) religious celebrations in the schools and churches. Fine arts and related program activities continue to be under-funded by the provincial government. Much of the fundraising focus continues to concentrate in this whole fine arts component of the education of our students. The labrynth project at vanier collegiate continues to be an initiative supported by the school division and community; a number of other charitable initiatives are on-going specifically raising funds for memorial scholarships to assist graduating students.
