Centre D'Action Benevole Ouest-De-L'Ile/ Volunteer West Island

Volunteer west island had another busy year: caring paws animal therapy reached 7020 individuals; 5329 reassurance calls were mode to seniors referred to us by three clsc's; a total of 22948 frozen meals and purees were safely distributed to citizens experiencing a loss of autonomy; 9 meals on wheels kitchens delivered 21885 meals with a smile; 230 income tax returns were completed by volunteers to help seniors and vulnerable individuals; 2278 volunteers were recruited and 10411 participants for a total of 1028 sessions in our young at heart 55+ community centre. We are embarking on several new projects to increase our reach to seniors one of which includes the development of a central kitchen for meals on wheels. Despite volunteer west island's future plans our regular programs and service continue to be essential for the community and with our expansion our objective is to be responsive to an aging population.
