About Canadian Wildlife Federation/Fédération Canadienne De La Faune

Cwf’s mission is to conserve and inspire the conservation of canada’s wildlife and habitat for the use and enjoyment of all through research direct programming education and advocacy. Cwf is recognized for our leadership in bringing together a broad cross section of individuals and organizations to work together for wildlife. This collaborative model helps maximize the impact of our work. It is a signature approach of cwf and has made us a sought-after expert advisor on wildlife conservation issues in canada. Programs include: barriers to fish passage affects fish and many other freshwater species. We have restored access to more than 3.3m metres2 of habitat at 25 sites throughout bc with expansion into atlantic canda. Our marine program focuses on the two main threats to the north atlantic right whale: fishing gear entanglement and ships collisions. Cwf is working with fish harvesters to trial on-demand fishing gear. Cwf leads inaturalist canada a popular citizen-science platforms that allows people to share flora and fauna sightings and contribute to a growing record of biodiversity used by scientists to help guide conservation decisions. Inaturalist canada recently hit a milestone of over 14m observations. Cwf helps to restore wildlife habitat in areas such as hydro corridors and roadsides. The cwf rights-of-way team supported 13 partners with 29 native wildflowers restoration projects to create and restore 602.96 hectares of habitat monarch butterflies. Our education programs help strengthen the conservation ethic among canadians and inspire conservations action. We are excited to report that we have been chosen to be the girl guides of canada’s partner on their national service project. This will involve more than 97 000 girl guides taking action for conservation over two years. To accelerate the pace and scale of ecosystem restoration cwf is leading work to develop a national native seed strategy to improve supply and scale up demand for nat
