Canadian Ski Patrol - Patrouille canadienne de ski

The canadian ski patrol is a national charitable organization that provides advanced first aid as well as the promotion of safe skiing and snowboarding to 230 alpine and nordic ski areas across canada. The organization is comprised of more than 3 500 volunteers that contributed 260 000 hours of service to ski areas as well as 40 000 hours of first aid service at off-snow events. Safety now and snow smart programs are delivered to school aged children across the country. The organization supports the national avalanche awareness progreams and provides avalanche training to patrollers. The canadian ski patrol has volunteer members on both national and international ski first aid and rescue bodies such as the canadian ski council regional ski area associations the canadian multi-agency working group on cpr/aed guidelines in canada and is a founding member of federation internationale des patrouilles de ski (fips). The canadian ski patrol continues to develop high quality advanced and standard first aid training cpr/aed avalanche rescue safety and risk management both on and off the snow. Expansion of e-learning modules cism (critical incident stress management) extended protocols and modernization of materials. The organization's first aid manual is maintained by volunteers within the system. The first aid manual along with all procedures for which the csp is accountable is reviewed on and on-going basis by a standing committee of medical professionals from various sectors within the emergency medical system and approved by the national education committee and the national management team. Extensive research and communications with the provinces and jurisdictions across canada continues to be undertaken in order to update and modernize the advanced and standard first aid requalifications of the volunteers.
