C.h.i. - Association for Conservancy of Hornby Island

Assist with Provincial Parks on Hornby Island; assist landowners to apply for Conservation Covenants; co-holding and monitoring of Conservation Covenants; coordination of Audobon Christmas Bird Count; coordination of monthly waterfoul counts for Bird Studies Canada; posters newsletters and articles of conservation issues; Conservancy speaker series to educate the public about nature on Hornby Island as well as conservancy efforts on and around Hornby Island; Marine Conservation Initiative program focusing on education and outreach regarding Marine Conservation around Hornby Island; ongoing work on our online presence; distribution of a Marine Atlas to educate people about the marine life around Hornby Island; 9th annual Hornby Island Herring Festival which focuses on the importance of Herring in our Marine Ecosystem featuring expert guest speakers presenting talks on herring and other issues surrounding herring. Second annual Forest Fest held in October 2024 which focused on the importance of trees and their interaction with other plants and animals.
