Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre

Through creating healing spaces and community the Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre continued to provide whole-person care that is complementary to medical treatments for individuals with cancer and their loved ones. Located in the Haliburton Highlands on a property surrounded by forests and ponds the organization provided a variety of in-person retreats and online programs that o?er rest and renewal companionship and an introduction to evidence informed practices that help soothe strengthen and restore the body mind and soul in the midst of a cancer journey. Time in nature restorative yoga massage expressive arts nutrition education music and group conversation are all elements of what make the programs unique and transformative. We continued to provide space monthly for local wellness groups including cancer support and grief support groups. We hosted multi-week online cancer support programs that provided a safe community space and introduced evidence-informed practices and tools for wellbeing. We provided a community hub and meeting space for local organizations. We host a volunteer program that provides warm homemade quilts for local residents living with cancer.
