Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax

Big Brothers Big Sisters facilitates and supports developmental relationships between a child/youth facing adversity and an adult mentor. Programs are customized to the needs of the youth served to mitigate the long-term effects of adverse childhood experiences. Each relationship is professionally supported engaging the child/youth the mentor and the parent/caregiver to ensure optimum outcomes. The programs are designed to meet diverse needs and include Big Brothers Big Sisters 2SLGBTQ+ and Big Couples. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax runs a social enterprise 'ReNew Crew' which accepts donations of textiles and small household items and sells them to a for-profit private business. The funds realized from this operation directly support the charity's work with local youth.
