About Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Yukon

Big brothers & big sisters mentoring: the program provides boys and young men or girls and young women with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. -in-school mentoring: the in-school mentoring program provides youth with a role model and a friend to talk to and share the experiences of growing up within school grounds. For one hour a week mentors meet with their mentee and engage in activities such as board games crafts or just hang out on school gounds. -junior team mentoring: this program matches children/youth in grades three and four with a mentor in grade six or seven for at least one 8-week block throughout the school year. The mentors have been recommended by school staff and screened by big brothers big sisters of yukon (bbbsy) and/or canadian mental health association-yukon territory (cmha-yt). The mentors' role is to be a postivie role model a friend and a listener. The mentor does not take on the role of counsellor teacher parent or authority figure. The mentees have been identified by their teacher as a child who would benefit from having a positive role model at school. -metoring through music: is a ten-week program where youth ages 8-18 can gather to play music together share a tasy meal and most importantly have fun! No prior music experience? No problem!
