About A Society for a Vancouver Island Vocal Assembly
Weekly singing practices with professional choral director for singing members from september to may; creating a safe space for lgbtqia+ and allies individuals. Performed seasonal concert in december and year-end choral concert in may for wide audience including. Performed at pride flag raising in june. Participated in community outreach at pride festival in june and through informal connections throughout the year. Aviva received a grant from vancouver foundation for resiliency and growth. Much of this grant has been used on consultants to support strategic planning development of formalized policies and procedures formalizing the bookkeeping system with a chart of accounts and online bookkeeping and transitioning to accrual accounting system with financial report created by an accountant. This work has resulted in a larger than typical expenditure on operations which is expected to continue for another year. Funds have also been spent on improving compensation to the contractors delivering the singing program and purchase of equipment to support the singing program.
