About Womens' And Girl's Emergency Centre Limited
1. WAGEC provides crisis response, tailored programs and primary prevention to provide safe spaces for women and children and to work towards ending genderbased violence. 2. Every night, WAGEC supports over 200 women and children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence and systemic disadvantage. We provide material aid, case management, biopsychosocial support, accommodation, and crisis responses. Our Redfern Head office offers appointments and dropin functions for women and children who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness and/or family/domestic violence. WAGEC operates four refuges that provide shortterm accommodation for women and children, including three Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) refuges in the inner city and inner west Sydney. 3. WAGEC provides specialised support for women and families living in transitional housing across greater Sydney, and in outreach functions such as through the government initiatives DVRE and SHLV programs. WAGEC facilitates oncall services to enable 24/7 phone support. 4. WAGEC's tailored programs, ACCESS, Helping Children Heal and From Now, specialise in offering focused support, such as through mentoring, therapeutic activities, and empowering early childhood staff and families to challenge gender stereotypes. Our Primary Prevention work includes campaigns, community training and initiatives to drive change on gender inequality and violence.
