About Women's Centre For Health Matters

In 2024, the Women's Centre for Health Matters (WCHM) continued to direct its efforts towards improving health outcomes for anyone who identifies as a woman in the ACT region. The organization remained an advocate for all ACT women, including those experiencing disadvantage and vulnerability. In 2024, WCHM played a vital role in advocating for and supporting the ACT Reproductive Health Data Incentive Fund. Through this work, WCHM reinforced its commitment to advocating for equitable reproductive health care and empowering women with the information necessary to make informed decisions. The initiative has been instrumental in highlighting the importance of reliable data in shaping policies and ensuring that all women in the ACT have access to highquality reproductive health services. The WCHM is piloting the Victim Survivor Voice project, an initiative funded by the ACT Government's Office of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence. The project's goal is to design, develop, and pilot an intersectional and sustainable consultation model for victimsurvivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence. By centering the voices of those with lived experiences, WCHM aims to create a consultation model that informs policymaking and service provision, leading to more effective responses and prevention strategies for domestic, family, and sexual violence in the ACT. WCHM participates in the Health in My Language initiative led by the Multicultural Centre for Women's Health (MCWH), which is designed to address barriers to health information access among migrant and refugee communities by providing culturally tailored, multilingual health education. The Bilingual Health Education team delivers free health information to women and genderdiverse individuals from multicultural, migrant, and refugee backgrounds in the ACT, empowering individuals to make informed health decisions, enhancing access to healthcare services, and fostering a more inclusive health system that acknowledges and respects cultural and linguistic diversity.
