About Victorian Council Of Social Service
The Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) is the peak body for Victoria s social and community sector, and the state s premier social advocacy body. VCOSS endeavors to lead debates about the true causes and effects of poverty, and about positive, innovative and workable approaches that will create real improvements in people s lives. VCOSS is an independent and nonpartisan organisation which amplifies the voices of members and of Victorians experiencing poverty and disadvantage. VCOSS vision of a Victoria free from poverty and disadvantage is based on the principles of: good living standards and prospects for all Victorians, support for Aboriginal selfdetermination, and the inclusion of all Victorians as equals without discrimination. Central to this vision is the wellbeing of all Victorians and their communities. VCOSS advances this through policy and research, public and private advocacy, and by working directly with member organisations, partners, and communities.
