Our mission is to protect, promote and restore wilderness and natural processes across Australia for the survival and ongoing evolution of life on Earth. In the last year, we have led the campaign to protect wilderness from private commercial development, by campaigning for Lake Malbena and achieving a noteable success. We continuing the campaigns for the South Coast Track and the Spero Wanderer wilderness and are making good progress. During 2024 TWS Tas brought cases of illegal forestry practices to court, continuing our campaigning for the preservation of Lutruwita / Tasmania's stunning high conservation value forests, which is vital habitat for our unique Tasmanian threatened species. TWS Tas has staged numerous public events including citizen science excursions into forests and related community events, encouraging community groups to take an interest in their local forests. The political headwinds against the preservation of our natural heritage continue but our campaigns over the last year have resonated with local communities and are widely supported.
