About The Trustee For The Queensland Trust For Nature
Queensland Trust for Nature continues to work to protect, restore and connect ecologically important land and strategic wildlife corridors. Since 2005, QTFN has protected over 100,800 hectares land with high ecological significance using a combination of nature refuge covenants under the Nature Conservation Act, Conservation Covenants and voluntary declarations under the Vegetation Management Act. QTFN operates a revolving fund which acquires and protects land of high ecological value then resells the land onto the private market. This enables the fund to reinvest sale proceeds into acquiring and protecting additional areas. We have acquired and protected properties of varying sizes from 22 to 74300 hectares, covering 56 regional ecosystems and providing habitat for 69 endangered, Vulnerable or threatened species. QTFN is also actively restoring the natural environment in Queensland on the properties we own and work with landowners on their properties to support their land stewardship efforts, particularly for koala habitat restoration and the benefits that can bring to other species. Alongside the primary purpose of supporting private land conservation, QTFN continues to facilitate sciencebased education and research into Queensland's natural environment.
