Milkwood Steiner School Association Incorporated

Milkwood Steiner School is the only inclusive school in the Top End offering an alternative curriculum to Australia's National Curriculum. Across all classes, Milkwood accepts and receives a higherthanaverage number of students with disability, many of whom do not meet the criteria for a special needs school, but who cannot access a differentiated curriculum that allows them to thrive in a Mainstream school setting. This includes students with Trauma, school refusal, anxiety and academic burnout. The Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework is delivered to all students, and we notice a high number of students enrolling in Milkwood every year who have previously been enrolled in Mainstream schools but failed to thrive. In order to meet their needs, Milkwood ensures a higher than average staff to student ratio, a Learning Support (learning enrichment) program accessed by all students, and facilitates the creation of EAPs for all students with diagnoses or imputed disability. Across all classes, Milkwood plans for a high number of students requiring adjustments because of its unique offerings in the Top End.
