Friends of Leadbeater's Possum Inc

Since the cessation of logging in public native forests from 1 January 2024 we have continued work to protect habitat under threat. We have applied for critical habitat declarations and continued to advocate for a national park in the Central Highlands. During the year our president has spoken to school and community groups and led forest tours. We have also continued our collaboration with Friends of Helmeted Honeyeaters to revegetate important habitat in Yellingbo Conservation reserve and at other lowland sites in the Yarra Valley. Our president was invited to attend the release of the revised Leadbeater's Possum Recovery Plan by Minister Plibersek in March 2024. We continue to advocate for resumption of the recovery Team. We were actively involved in a Scientifc Forum on Leadbeater's Possum which brought researchers and other interested parties together to share latest and best knowledge of the species and its needs.
