During the reporting period our efforts were focused on the implications of amendments to the DA approval conditions at the Beachfront high density development. The DA lighting approval conditions are key in protecting the nesting habitat of endangered loggerhead turtles. It followed that Council withdrew support for its significant approval condition, supporting the developer in the 2nd P&E Court case. Those amendments and the ongoing environmental impacts are a major concern for all nesting habitat along the Sunshine Coast. We have also participated in community feedback on local Council and State planning matters and changes that impact our local area. Our presence as a community organisation continues to increase as we actively advocate on land use, environmental planning and other amendments. Retention of the existing character, amenity and lifestyle remain key community considerations in balancing future urban development that ought to be environmentally and socially sustainable.
