Provision of education, support and advocacy for GP's in the Northern Tasmania region. 1. Online resources: General Practice North funds group subscriptions to The Women s Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Medicines Guide (PBMG) for General Practices in northern Tasmania. The PBMG is a quick reference guide which provides practical and unbiased specialised information on medicine use in pregnancy and breastfeeding. The PBMG is regularly updated and provides access to downloadable fact sheets. GPs are able to have the PBMG on the desk top for easy reference to help with the management of women in pregnancy and when breastfeeding. 2. GP Registrar support: General Practice North offers financial support for GP Registrars to attend Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) training workshops. This practical training is essential for GP Registrars as part of the General Practice team. 3. Small group education sessions: General Practice North sponsors small group learning sessions in general practices in northern Tasmania. An experienced independent pharmacotherapeutics educator conducts education sessions with GPs regarding the use of specific medications. 4. Aged Care: General Practice North supports GPs providing care to residents in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) through the General Practice North Aged Care Advisory Group (GPN ACAG). GPs are supported when meeting with onsite managers of RACFs and RACF staff and participating in medication advisory council meetings. GP's are also supported when attending interactive webinars, and representing GPs in various forums providing a voice for GPs to be able to improve care for RACF residents The Chair of GPN ACAG is able to represent northern GPs regarding RACF/aged care issues and concerns through the media and on various committees and forums and to keep GPN ACAG members informed with regular updates.
