Bicycle New South Wales Environmental Trust

During this period we engaged in three projects 1. Advocacy and Awareness Campaign supporting better streets, which is a grassroots campaign to significantly accelerate the development of active transport in NSW. 2. Bicycle Advocacy Support program 3. Family Ebike Trial Project These campaigns meet the objectives of the Bicycle NSW Environmental Trust as follows: To conserve and protect the natural environment through the promotion of bicycling as an environmentally beneficial means of transport. This is a key focus of these campaigns and highlights the beneficial comparisons in efficiency and carbon emission reductions. These campaigns will look to use data on the rate of change and implementation with cycling infrastructure. To promote the use of the bicycle as a key element of ecologically sustainable development practices. This is a key focus through raising community awareness, education and linking active transport outcomes back to economic, health, social and environmental commitments made by the government. To promote bicycle transport as a means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air and water quality, reducing nonrenewable energy consumption, and improving land use. This is a key focus to link back the reduction gains in greenhouse gas emissions to community expectations and government targets. These campaigns aim to showcase changes to landuse and how locality can shift perceptions. To promote the use of the bicycle as a healthy, environmentally sustainable means of enhancing accessibility and personal mobility in the community. This is a key focus and linked to many areas including the benefits to the local communities, businesses, and schools.
