In 2024, ASFI advanced its mission to align Australia's financial system with sustainability by driving policy reform, building capacity, and fostering collaboration across sectors. A key milestone was the nearfinalisation of Australia s sustainable finance taxonomy a foundational tool to guide green and transition investments, with a globally significant focus on mining thresholds and First Nations safeguards. ASFI launched a Pilot Sustainable Finance Capability Framework, defining the skills needed to support the transition, and facilitated professional development across public and private sectors. Through our Limitless mentoring program, curated training, and the ASFI Summit, we helped professionals deepen their understanding of sustainable finance, including First Nations economic selfdetermination and naturepositive investment approaches. We strengthened policy influence through coordinated engagement with government and industry, contributing to the adoption of mandatory climate disclosures and the ACCC s guidance on sustainability collaborations. ASFI also championed the role of blended finance to scale climate solutions, and drove international dialogue on interoperability, policy certainty, and credible transition finance. Our Natural Capital Advisory Group identified opportunities to integrate nature into finance and supported institutions in exploring new, naturealigned financial products. ASFI's work on biodiversity and environmental policy including through the Nature Finance Council and Nature Positive Summit further positioned finance as a lever for environmental outcomes. Our First Nations policy advocacy contributed to systemic reform, with several ASFI recommendations adopted by the Senate Inquiry into Economic SelfDetermination. These addressed access to capital, governance reform, and elevating First Nations equity in the clean energy transition. We also supported efforts to attract sustainable Australian investment into Southeast Asia, publishing a Market Assessment Report with actionable policy recommendations to unlock capital for the region s sustainability goals.
