ACICA administers a growing caseload of arbitrations and assists parties with the organisation of their hearings by providing information on hearing rooms, transcription and IT services. ACICA is designated as the default appointing authority for international arbitrations under the International Arbitration Act 1974 in Australia, as well as the appointing authority under the Water Management Act 1999 (TAS), Water Act 1989 (VIC) and Construction Industry Long Service Leave Act 1997 (VIC) and responds to applications made under this legislation. ACICA provides general information in response to enquiries from the public related to arbitration agreements, rules, law and practice. ACICA provides education services in the form of seminars and conferences on alternative dispute resolution and produces free of charge resources for parties conducting arbitration. ACICA organises and runs road shows to promote arbitration in Australia and Australia as a venue for international dispute resolution, and exhibits and attends conferences for the same purpose. ACICA provides volunteer internships to students and young lawyers, and offers a freeof charge young practitioners' program, for those interested in the practice of alternative dispute resolution. Each of these activities has assisted in the promotion, facilitation and instruction of arbitration and mediation as procedures for the resolution of international commercial disputes and the promotion of Australia as venue for international commercial dispute resolution.
