About Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group

We are the peak national gynaecological cancer research organisation for Australia and New Zealand. Over 4,000 patients with a gynaecological cancer have participated in ANZGOG s 60+ clinical trials and studies over 20 years. Our research adds to the global knowledge about gynaecological cancers, including ovarian (including fallopian), uterine (including endometrial), cervical, vulval and vaginal cancers. Our purpose is to improve the outcomes and quality of life for women with gynaecological cancers through conducting and promoting cooperative clinical trials and undertaking multidisciplinary research into causes, prevention and treatments of gynaecological cancer. We actively share our learnings to improve clinical and research practice and work to drive excellence in Australian and New Zealand clinical research. Through our membership of 1,450 members representing clinical, allied health and pure research specialities based at more than 86 hospitals, universities and research institutions across Australia and New Zealand. Our communities affected by gynaecological cancer have a voice in research development and conduct, are spokespeople about awareness and the need for research into gynaecological cancers and fundraise for research through donations and bequests. Through ANZGOG's Community Engagement Program, we connect with people impacted by gynaecological cancer to amplify their voice in research development and empower them as spokespeople and ambassadors through initiatives such as Survivors Teaching Students. WomenCan, ANZGOG s fundraising arm, plays a pivotal role in advancing groundbreaking research through community engagement and fundraising efforts, including appeals, events, bequests, and initiatives like Team Teal, Save the Box, and One Million for WomenCan. In 2024, ANZGOG developed, in collaboration with industry partners, the Gynaecological Cancer Transformation Initiative (GCTI), a onceinageneration opportunity to revolutionise the diagnosis, treatment and care pathway for women with a gynaecological cancer. This initiative provides an evidencebased national roadmap to deliver equitable access to worldclass healthcare, to save lives.
