ASID improves the quality of life for everyone through advancing the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases in Australia, and global communities. ASID supports education activities including conferences and webinars for its members and the wider healthcare profession and community, both locally and internationally. ASID is active in promoting research in all aspects of infectious disease and advocates for sound and evidence based public health policy in matters that impact our community, related to infectious diseases. ASID advocates for sound healthcare practices including those affecting the underprivileged and indigenous communities. ASID provides a mechanism for collaboration in research between its members and other organisations and helps fund research which benefits not only Australia and New Zealand but also the global community.
