Artists for Kids' Culture

The AKC Kids Grants Program, artsbus Program, artsbusTV, and Y(Our)Fest have each played a vital role in fulfilling the mission of AKC by increasing access to arts, promoting creativity, and supporting children and young people in Australia, particularly those facing financial or social hardship. AKC Kids Grants Program: This initiative directly addresses barriers to arts participation for children aged 517, particularly those experiencing financial or social hardship. By offering up to $1500 per child per year, the program makes it possible for children to access arts activities they otherwise might not afford. Feedback is gathered to ensure that children are attending and enjoying their chosen activities, ensuring the program is effectively fostering longterm engagement in the arts. artsbus Program: The mobile arts space, artsbus, brings meaningful and therapeutic arts activities directly to communities, especially those with limited access. By eliminating transportation barriers, the artsbus ensures that children in remote or underserved areas can still engage in arts programs, fostering creativity and social connection. artsbusTV: artsbusTV empowers kids and young people to create their own content, showcasing their talent while building essential skills in media production. With the pilot funded and series 1 launched in FY24, the program not only amplifies young voices but also provides an important platform for creative expression and community building across six locations in Victoria. Y(Our)Fest: Y(Our)Fest emphasizes the importance of creativity, inclusion, and community. Codesigned by kids and teens, the festival provides a space for children and families to come together through free live music, arts and dance workshops, and other engaging activities. This program fosters a sense of belonging and encourages children to take part in shaping cultural experiences. Through these initiatives, AKC has made arts more accessible to children who may face significant barriers, promoting their wellbeing and empowering them to develop creative skills that can impact their futures. Together, these programs align with AKC s mission of fostering a more inclusive, creative, and supportive community for young people in Australia.
