Stella Maris Melbourne advocates for seafarers and offers free pastoral care ensuring that the spiritual and social needs of seafarers on merchant vessels arriving in Melbourne ports are met. Free transport is provided from the Ports to the Centre and back again. A religious service is streamed from our chapel every Sunday night for those seafarers who are not able to attend on shore. However, when asked, Mass on board ship is provided by our Port Chaplain. Ill seafarers are visited in hospitals and ongoing support is given. Once in the Centre, the seafarers have free internet access and counselling & guidance if needed. Ship visiting is undertaken on a daily basis, connecting with seafarers who do not have shore leave.
