Alliance Francaise de la Sunshine Coast

Due to the dangerous situation in NewCaledonia, many families emigrated to the Sunshine Coast from NewCaledonia. These migrants, French speaking, faced considerable issue settling in Australia due to the language barrier. The AFSC provided a structure, a community in which they could settle with ease, particularly for the children who experienced very upsetting events in NewCaledonia. We also continued our work in looking after elderly French speaking or francophile people by helping them maintain their social connections throughout our various events and a chain of solidarity between our members. We provide pool transport enabling them to participate to events when they cannot drive themselves.
