The central purpose and role of Te Mana Oranga Trust is defined as: In recognising the principle of Maori for Maori strength in Wellbeing the mission of the organisation is: To protect, enhance, promote and work to improve the health of Maori, and others who suffer a mental illness and/or an addiciton, requiring supportive accommodation and support in the community by providing a holistic service based on Maori cultural values consistent with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, promoting tino rangatiratanga to the individual and whanau so they can acquire or recover the skills needed to live indepenedently and as autonomously as possible. In simple terms, our work is to provide support to those who suffer from a mental illness / and or an addiction to help people in their journey to recovery - to recover the skills they need to be able to live independently in the community, to recover the skills they need to lead a life that for them is meaningful and fulfilling.
