There are also a number of museums, collections to view from trains (steam, diesel & electric), trams (steam & electric), aeroplanes, model railway, vintage fire appliances, Post Office and Telegraph, rural history to name a few. There are also workshops restoring vintage forms of transport.
The purpose of Ferrymead is to educate the public about aspects of Canterbury's history and to entertain the public. When running, there are unlimited train and tram rides.
Ferrymead also has an education programme that specialises in heritage learning. They attract about 5,000 school children annually.
